Radburn is a section of Fairlawn New Jersey, about 16 miles from Manhattan. It was the first Garden City built in the US from 1928 - 1933 by the City Housing Corporation. The corporation first built Sunnyside Gardens in Queens NY.The chairman of th corporation was Alexander Bing, a wealthy real estate developer in NYC. Other members of the board included First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, and Felix Adler, founder of the Ethical Culture Society . The primary architects / planners were Clarence Stein and Henry Wright. Stein had attended the one of the Ethical Culture Schools where he probably met Adler.
