Ken Kurson, 28, gave up the rock 'n roll life and has since become a personal finance writer. The unusual career move seems to have paid off -- in addition to penning the popular "Advocate" column for "Worth", Kurson now dispenses solid money tips with a refreshingly irreverent style on his weekly CNNfn segment and in the pages of "Green", his personal "finanzine" for young adults. Somehow, he finds the time to write "The Buck Starts Here," an ongoing series for Tripod which deals with investments and the culture of money. Ken was also the subject of a funny and informative Work & Money interview on why you should be unashamed to take control of your personal finances.
"The Buck Starts Here" is refreshingly cheeky and free of convoluted "finance jargon" -- Kurson has a gift for making money matters seem interesting and even hilarious. In these columns you will finally discover just what in blazes a mutual fund really is, how to harness the power of compound interest, and much more.
