Cardboard Only brings me back to the good old days when Saturdays meant breakdancing on cardboard in my driveway. Damn, did I look good in parachute pants!

It's no surprise that the Community pieces on Tripod are some of my
favorites -- "community" and "communications" are, after all, based on the
same etymological root. Anyhow, a current favorite is The Exile Files --
to the point, and an alarming update on those dictators I spent so much
time reading about in political science classes in college.

Hankering for the City? I solve my New York jones
by visiting one of my favorite museums,
The
Guggenheim Museum SoHo. Some gratuitous use of marquees,
but the MediaScape exhibit is very watchable.
After the site redesign at Tripod, I've become a regular reader of
our Stress stuff. Take the quiz and find out
if you're a hot or cool reactor!

From our Toybox, ask the Magic Eight
Ball everything you were afraid to ask your therapist.

The Web 100:
This is just plain cool. I hope they've figured out a way to stop vote-rigging.

If you have not already seen Alt.Culture, go there now. The site
is a hyperlinked database of 90s cultural references. Be sure to use the
"autopilot" feature to create a randomized slide show. If you can tell me
what exactly is happening at the Damaged Californians site I
would appreciate it. On Tripod, don't miss Tony's interview with Paul
Beatty, author of "The White Boy Shuffle."

Jesse's Word of the Day is
a great daily dose of quirky vocabulary. Jesse Sheidlower is a slang
specialist (who knew?) at Random House and writes a daily column on the
origin of words and phrases such as "ass over teakettle" and "buxom." It's
William Safire for the everyman.

Outside of Tripod, Ron Lunde's Daily Humorscope is a
great source for a quick laugh. On the 'Pod, I simply must brag about our
Work & Money columnists;
Harry Goldstein and Ken Kurson's pieces are always funny and informative --
and they're about to be joined by West Coast correspondent Catherine
Hedgecock. If you're not reading these folks, you're missing some of the
best, most enjoyable career and finance writing on the web.

I was reminiscing about Tron the other day with Mike, and coincidentally
ran across The
Tron Homepage (unofficial). With its vision of computers, that movie was so ahead of it time. Now that I'm in the midst of the
Internet, I can really appreciate the intricacies of that movie.
