Outside Tripod, one of my all time favorites (which made me take a second look at jar spaghetti sauce) is the site for the Ragu company. It is a dynamic site with smart humor, Italian lessons and recipes. I still make my sauce from scratch, though.

Inside Tripod, the game to play (before you really get down to work) is Contraceptive Contemplation. Whoever said sex ed. can't be wholesome, intellectual fun?

With all the hype of multimedia messaging and e-mail enhancement, I am an advocate of getting back to basics. A brilliant example of this is the PixelSight ASCII art generators that generate title banners, headers, and other e-mail trinkets from a large selection of PostScript fonts. All in all, a fun toy, and if you can find a practical use for it, more power to ya.

gURL is a great little chick mag hailing from my alma mater, the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York Univeristy. Witty, wonderful illustrations are coupled with articles that tackle issues of interest to all gURLs...sex, beauty, makeovers, fashion, and of course, boys. There's even an interview with our old favorite, Judy Blume. Go gURLs!

Tony
I haven't seen a better political tool on the web than American Voter '96. Try the Rate Your Rep section to see how you and your Congress members would match up in real votes. I had a 90% approval rating for my representative. I know who I'm choosing in November, do you?

Girls on Film is great. This site makes me feel like I'm hanging out with a bunch of my friends, eating ice cream, and picking apart movies, stars, and more. It is well written, nicely designed, and just a boatload o' fun. See particularly "Bad Coifs & MIAs."

Bo
GeoCities: Terrible graphics, no edited content, and a shoddy layout; but a great window into the vibrant communities of interest that the Tripod Homepage Builder could ultimately become.

Mike
Good thing I brought my Nike cross trainers to Williamstown. No one told me that Tripod is actually actually Camp Tripod! The weekly regimen we do here of tennis, basketball, volleyball, and lawn darts requires some sturdy footware. Seriously though, take a look at Nike's home page. They perfected the art of the anti-advertisement long ago and their web site is no different. "The purpose of this site is not to sell shoes." Yeah, right.

Emma
Shoestring Travel calls itself the ezine of inexpensive travel. All of the travel tips are submitted by readers or culled from Usenet, including articles on traveling as a courier, how to find cheap accommodation, and a well-organized links section. The User Exchange page is a great place for making "room swap" deals.

Randy
Outside of Tripod, I've been having a lot of fun rediscovering Feed and The Daily Muse, both of which cover current events and politics with a insight, humor, and a lot of cheeky style. Here on the 'pod, I've been getting a big kick out of Play Doctor With Tripod. That's either becuase I'm new in town and don't have anybody to play doctor with at home or because this is a truly fun and informative feature. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

(I would have said Virtual Soapbox, but I don't want to toot my own horn.)

The Workstation: This is a generally useful site whose chief mission is to provide a groovy interface to all the search engines out there. This site wins coolness points by virtue of its membership in the Internet Link Exchange; and of course, it's a Tripod member page! You'll also find a tutorial on browsing frames-based sites, but perhaps best of all you'll learn how to have FREE graphics made for your web pages!

I was feeling a little homesick, and I found the Made in Montana Online Mall. It's nice to see the folks back home getting onto the Web. Now I know where to go to buy some good old fashioned Montana Beef Jerky or Moose Drool, a beer by a new brewery in my hometown of Missoula.
