Onsale: Jump into the fray in one of the Internet's best-kept secrets - a 24/7 auction of computer, electronic and car stereo equiptment. Here's how it works - a manufacturer decides to discontinue a product. For a while, it sells at a discount from conventional retailers. Then, to finally clear out inventory, the remaining items are auctioned. At Onsale, you'll find a huge variety of just-barely-obsolete equipment at prices that are extremely hard to beat. Enter your bid into their secure server, and you're notified by email if you're outbid or if you've made a purchase. Great for IT geeks trying to stay within a budget.

Outside Tripod, one of my all time favorites (which made me take a second look at jar spaghetti sauce) is the site for the Ragu company. It is a dynamic site with smart humor, Italian lessons and recipes. I still make my sauce from scratch, though.

Inside Tripod, the game to play (before you really get down to work) is Contraceptive Contemplation. Whoever said sex ed. can't be wholesome, intellectual fun?

Jon
Apple Game Sprockets: Macintosh gamers rejoice! Apple has finally admitted that you can and should play games on your Macintosh. Not only that, but they are providing a flood of support to the Macintosh programming community, primarily in the form of Apple Game Sprockets, a tool for developers wanting to quickly work their magic. If you're interested in Mac game programming, you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't check it out.

On Tripod, I have been so happy to see the success of the Homepage Dilemma in Planet Tripod. It's great to see Tripod Members helping each other out to create great homepages!

Outside of Tripod (does that exist?), The Onion has had me in stitches for a couple of weeks. Being from south of the Mason Dixon line, I especially appreciate the report that "Supreme Courts Rule That Tennesseeans Are Sentient Beings".

Also, Tweak is a great web magazine, with witty articles and nice design. I especially love the feature "Exon: Keeping Senators Up at Night"!

Kara
Girls on Film is great. This site makes me feel like I'm hanging out with a bunch of my friends, eating ice cream, and picking apart movies, stars, and more. It is well written, nicely designed, and just a boatload o' fun. See particularly "Bad Coifs & MIAs."

Bo
Water skiing homepage: In my quest to fulfill my skiing fetish during the summer months, I found this homepage. In addition to learning a lot about water skiing, I learned that you can find great info on almost any topic right on Tripod. Our members are some of the most creative on the Web. Just go here and type in any keyword.

Mike
Paul Lukas, creator of the 'zine "BeerFrame," has a great site called Inconspicous Consumption where he comments upon quirky new consumer products. Reading his take on items like Artic Ice Beer and Pepperidge Farm "Toasting Bread" will definitely enlighten your next visit to Stop-n-Shop.

Emma
Foxy is an ezine all about grrrls (as opposed to girls, which usually means naked girls when you are on the web). I'm not normally a big fan of grrls stuff (or girls stuff, for that matter), but this zine is very funny. It's about girls who skate and know how to fix their cars. I drive a pickup truck so I'm all for that.

Randy
As Election '96 heats up, I have been spending a lot of time on Tripod perusing the Political Playbook. Playbook offers columns about the latest hot-button election issues. Thanks to the links that provide great background information, I will be an informed voter in the fall.

Outside of Tripod my current fave is The Bird, a satirical Nashville-based Webzine that takes hilarious aim at political absurdities and social outrages. An infectious spirit of mischevious fun permeates everything from the pithy lead stories to the mock-sensuous descriptions of "Bird Gear" t-shirts.

Jeff
Security First Network Bank: Isn't it time you opened your first Internet bank account? Yea or nay, I'll be spending a lot of time on this site in the next few weeks if I want to keep my job. It's high time I started working on the tech for the Tripod-SFNB partnership. Isn't it high time you started working on the tech for the Tripod-SFNB partnership? Later.

I love movies! They don't have even have to be that good, as some of my co-workers can attest to my occasional lapses in taste. This week I rediscovered, Mr. Showbiz. This is another fine website from those folks at Starwave. Mr. Showbiz keeps me up with all these summer blockbusters. I like their reviews. They give me the kind of tongue-in-cheek information that I like to hear.
