Do you have any resentment towards Bob Dole for consistently linking you to abortions that you performed as an
obstetrician?
I guess not. An issue is what people think an issue is. People certainly
thought Roe v. Wade had become an issue. Also, Dole was known as the
dirtiest street fighter in the history of Kansas politics. He's a slasher
and
a cutter. So there was no reason to be surprised. And when you're not
surprised, you're probably not angry.
If Dole loses the presidential election, what advice can you offer him?
People sometimes lose elections that they should have won, but I think
there is no way for Dole to win this election. I don't think that there
ever
was a way for him to win. He couldn't have a personality transplant. And
he's up against a very strong economy. . . I think Dole should take this
philosophically. He should be prepared for this loss, and I don't think he
should blame himself.
