      Reflecting on Practice:
      Quality and Leadership
      in Experiential Education

      Kansas City, Missouri
      Hyatt Regency Crown Center
      October 22 - 25, 1997

      The Conference
Join school and college faculty, directors of experience-based learning programs, administrators, researchers, and business and agency staff to explore best practices in experiential education. The NSEE Conference will include workshops, plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, poster sessions, special interest groups and networks, and informal discussions about transforming teaching and learning. Sessions will focus on the innovative practices, techniques, uses of technology, and integrated curricula that are shaping the field.

Experiential education encompasses a wide range of teaching and learning methods which engage the learner actively in whatever is being learned. Examples include internships, service-learning, career development, school-to-work, cooperative education, cross-cultural education, leadership development, and active learning in the classroom. As a philosophy, experiential education asserts that the development of knowledge and the acquisition of skills belong as partners in education, where each can transform the other.
