1. Relationships spawned at work have a lot going for them.

You share the same space for the same period of time day after day, ample time to determine if he's got an annoying habit of wearing the same pants day in and day out — or if that stupid Valley Girl voice is an occasional put-on or the real, permanently ingrained thing. If you're both doing work you believe in, so much the better — you already have a good base to start with. You're passionate about the same thing — maybe not everything, but it's enough to get the ball rolling in the right direction.

There's an old saw about how the more you see someone, the better they start to look, even if you weren't necessarily attracted to them when you first started working together. It's not hooey. The more you work with someone, the more you learn about them and the more open you feel to letting them know you. You reach a certain comfort level.

Maybe those take-out dinners you ordered to fuel you through a tough deadline are beginning to stretch out a little longer. Maybe he offers to give you a ride home one night. Maybe you suggest you go out for a drink to celebrate the end of a project. There's that weird eye communication thang happening. Those pupils are dilating. You feel light headed, blood draining down, down. You start to feel stupid, giddy, out of control, like anything could happen.

Stop.

Take a cold shower.

Let that oxygen-starved brain do a little risk analysis first.
