Tripod member LeeRogas asks:
Help! is there a way to remove cigarette burns (don't ask) from a wood floor without refinishing the whole thing?

Handy Girl Jennifer suggests:
I wouldn't dream of asking. But it's very very hard to patch urethane finishes. You could sand the area and the burn, but when you go to urethane the sanded area you will encounter the phenomenon of flashing. This is where the light hits the new urethane and shines a bright reminder of your smoking days. Have you considered a lovely rug or perhaps a plant stand over the offending area?
