The Islands

Once you've oohed and ahhed your way through the relics of ancient culture on the mainland, hop a boat to find out why the Greek isles have been elevated to their near legendary status. Stunning clusters of islands encircle the Greek peninsula and bridge the waters between Greece and Turkey, enticing travelers to infamous party resorts like Míkonos and more remote getaways like Lésvos. The islands offer everything from raunchy, hedonistic scenes of babes and booze to secluded locales where you can gaze at your own private piece of the tranquil Aegean. Unfortunately, the latter may be distressingly difficult to find at times. During summer, hordes of vacationing Americans and Europeans invade the islands' hotels, driving prices up and making an unoccupied patch of sand a hot commodity.
